The epoxy comes in two parts. I highly recommend lining your tank to extend its lifetime. The stock tank should have a drain towards the bottom of it. Great idea! We ended up with one area that had rusted through, so we patched it using a piece of galvanized siding that we coated with silicone caulk, then riveted into place. We purchased this pump and it came w the inlet nozzle but it looks super big to use and still be able to seal the connection between it and the curved metal of the stock tank. This year we scrapped off all of the flex seal and it took hours. any suggestions or ideas on what else to do or use to keep it cleaner and who knows I might even hop in, thanks for the tips!! My plan is to use try to strip the rust using loctite rust dissolver, hit it with a quick coat of rustoleum spray and then put in a liner I found on Amazon for $180. I actually washed the inside of my stock tank down with white vinegar and primed it with white primer paint and then painted the inside with blue rubber pool paint. We are attempting this project over the weekend. Our pool has stayed really clean.

Weve drained and Im starting the daunting process to sand and scrape it ALL. Across the top to keep out the trash,leaves an such. Meghan- is the pool epoxy still holding up? Thinking about solor. I believe the zinc coating makes it nearly impossible to get anything to stick to the metal. I will be using the intex pool pump for filtering and keeping the water sweet.
You need a seal that will hold up underwater and adheres well to the stock tank material. So far we havent had any sign of chipping, peeling, lifting, blistering, etc., that I was so worried about. When I got my stock tank home I found a leak I found resolution in the Intex pool that I was previously using. If you use the caulk seal and nontoxic epoxy, you won't need a liner, however, a liner does provide the added benefit of reducing heat loss. Takes about 2 minutes to clean. We are using a Intel clear sand pump and it works great. You have a small window to actually paint it all once you have mixed it together because it does dry pretty quickly.

, UPDATE 7/27/2020: We discovered a way to make our pump work flawlessly!Were south of Houston in Friendswood, and set up our stock tank pool last year and wondered why we hadnt done it sooner! We mixed the full gallon and it was enough to do two coats on the outside and inside of the tank. Very helpful! Thanks to the dog, the black mulch is always spilling over into our green grass.

Only thing I did was take a grinder and sander to the inside of the rim of the tank to knock off any sharp edges. I live in Arkansas and need ideas on what to do this winter. We put the big inflatable flower in the pool when not in use and cover it with a mosquito net from Ikea that keeps bugs and leaves out of the water but allows the sun to shine through to keep the ionizer working. Liquid chlorine is also calcium based most of the time. Im debating between pond seal and truck bed liner. If your deck is already made and you are dropping a tank in, this method could be difficult to execute. Its seems like people have had good luck with pond seal or even truck bed liner.
